Angel: Also known as Angelus who was sired by Darla in 1753. Together, he and three other vampires, Darla, Drusilla and Spike, were known as the Scourge of Europe, which cut a swath of destruction and terror throughout the continents of Europe and Asia for several decades. In 1898 Romania, he was cursed with a soul by a group of Gypsies in revenge for killing a daughter of the tribe. For almost a hundred years, Angel wandered the world in pain and suffering for the horrible atrocities he committed as a demon. In 1997, a demon named Whistler pulled him off of the streets of New York City and took him to meet the newest Slayer, Buffy Summers. Once he laid eyes upon Buffy, he decided to take Whistler up on his offer to work for the "good guys". He moved to Sunnydale, after Whistler took him under his wing, where he helped Buffy fight the forces of the Hellmouth until he lost his soul - he and Buffy shared a night of passion which caused one moment of true happiness, thus negating the curse. Willow Rosenberg was able to restore his soul but it was too late, Buffy had to kill him in order to stop the world from being sucked into Hell. After spending several centuries there (time moves differently in the Hell dimension than it does here) he was brought back. He and Buffy tried to resume their love affair but found that it was just too difficult to do so without being physical. As a result, he left Sunnydale for Los Angeles to help the helpless for the Powers That Be. While exploring his dark side, he had a one-night stand with Darla that resulted in her becoming pregnant and "giving birth" to their son Connor. He is known as the Champion of the Powers That Be and is currently involved with Cordelia Chase.

Cordelia Chase : Originally a rich, snotty cheerleader from Sunnydale who was involved with Xander Harris while in high school. She was part of the core group of Scoobies before leaving to become an actress in Los Angeles. After running into Angel at a party, she offered to come to work for him as his assistant. Eventually, she became close to Doyle, Angel's former partner and half demon who was very much in love with Ms. Chase. While sacrificing himself to save others, he passed his power of vision on to Cordy through a kiss. In 2001, she chose to become part demon so that she could continue to help Angel by having visions. After realizing her true feelings for Angel, she left to meet him at the beach. However, on her way there, she was stopped by her demon guide, Skip, who told her that she had ascended to a higher plane of existence - she had become a higher being. From her higher plane of existence, Cordelia was able to see what Connor and Justine had in mind for Angel and interfered. By saving Angel and interrupting the natural order of things, her punishment resulted in her being expelled from the heavenly dimension and no longer considered a higher being. Currently she is involved with Angel.

Charles Gunn: Known to the group as Gunn, he has been fighting vampires for several years, first with a gang out on the streets of L.A. and then with Angel. Tragedy stuck for Charles when vampires killed his sister. After staking her himself, he came to Angel Investigations when Angel convinced him that his need for revenge would be better served helping the vampire fight the forces of evil. Though he doesn't exactly trust Angel since he's a vampire, Charles is still willing to continue to fight along side of his friends because it's the mission that counts. This street-wise, danger seeker is fiercely loyal and will stop at nothing to protect his friends and family. Gunn and Angel are the muscle of the group. Currently he dating is Fred Burkle.

Winifred (Fred) Burkle: Fred came to Angel Investigations after being rescued from Pylea (the Host's dimension) by Angel, Gunn, Wesley and Lorne. Before being sucked through a portal into Pylea, Fred was a physics student at the local university. After spending five years in the hell dimension, it took her several weeks before she would leave the safe confines of her room at the Hyperion. Though Fred has been involved in fighting against the forces of evil, she has become the brains behind the group, taking Wesley's place in the research area when he was banished from Angel Investigations for his betrayal. Despite appearing to be shy and weak, she is quite capable of commanding attention as well as handy with a battleaxe. Currently she is dating Gunn and trying to learn about all things 'hood related.

Lorne (The Host): Not much is known about Lorne, other than the fact that he comes from Pylea and is a musical empath. After dishonoring his family, he escaped from his dimension into this one and decided to stay once he discovered music. At one time, he owned a karaoke bar named Caritas, where he would read the essence of those who sang for him. After meeting Angel and becoming involved with Angel Investigations, the bar was destroyed -- not once, but twice and as a result, he moved into the Hyperion. When Connor returned from Cortoth and went after the friendly green demon, Lorne decided it was time to leave L.A. and head to Las Vegas. He spent several months there trying to start over with a new bar and a new clientele base. However, he returned to L.A. and to AI after he realized that "Sin City" lacked a large demon population. It was because of his reading of Dawn -- which almost made his head explode -- that he and the gang were able to locate Connor in Sunnydale. His abilities also made it easier to determine who of the combined group of Scoobies and AI was to be a part of the Drawing of Twelve.
